QEH Juniors Year 5 boys, Freddie, Felix, Harri, Eddie and Henry are covering 5km, 5 days a week for 5 weeks to raise £5,000 for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

Freddie explains why they’re doing this.

“We were asked to create a presentation for English on a person who we find inspirational. I love Rugby, as do my friends, and I researched the amazing players from the past. I found some footage of Doddie Weir and watched the footage of him being injured on the Lions tour. I thought he was amazing, putting the Lions team above his own aspirations. A true sportsman.”

“That was enough to make me think how much I would love to be that kind of player. Then I found out about Doddie’s diagnosis with MND and the amazing work he has been doing for his charity My Name’5s Doddie. Now I felt I had to do something. So with the amazing enthusiasm of my great friends at school, we have set out a challenge,” he continued.

“Eddie, Felix, Henry and Harri are joining me, Freddie, in our 5’s challenge. As 5 Year 5 boys, we are going to complete a 5km distance, 5 days a week for 5 weeks. We want to raise a really ambitious £5000.”

The boys are now in training, so they’re ready to for their challenge in the summer term. We are so proud of them for doing this and wish them well as they embody the QEH motto, Whilst we have time, let us do good. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts, please visit their JustGiving page to donate.

QEH pupils enjoyed an unforgettable cricket tour in Cape Town, competing fiercely, exploring iconic sights, and spotting wildlife at Aquila.

With our two sons being at this school over the past 13 years, we could not be happier with the amazing teachers, teaching and all the extra activities outside of the curriculum. Both boys have come away with outstanding results and aside from that as perfectly rounded, confident and well-mannered young men. We leave today so thanks to the school for everything, we shall miss these days.
