Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, which took place on 27 January 1945. The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) encourages remembrance of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

The presentation, delivered virtually by QEH Head of History Miss Coleman, remembers those who died in the Holocaust but also raises our failure to learn the lessons from the past as genocides continue to happen around the world today. She speaks of what can happen when prejudice and persecution are left unchallenged and reminds us all of our responsibilities to stand up against these processes when we see them in our communities. Finally, she calls on each QEH student to mark Holocaust Memorial Day by making a firm commitment to stand up against prejudice.

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

Since joining the school, we have been constantly amazed by the support and kindness given by the teachers, staff and other pupils and, above all, by the injection of fun that infiltrates throughout whether they're playing sport, completing a science project and participating in a school play.  No doubt there will be challenges ahead but we're confident the school will provide the support and guidance that has our sons' best interests at heart.
