Promoting Racial Inclusivity and Awareness

When we reflect on 2020 as a school community, our memories will be dominated by the challenges presented by a global pandemic and how we adapted to these challenges.

When we reflect on 2020 as a school community, our memories will be dominated by the challenges presented by a global pandemic and how we adapted to these challenges.

However, 2020 also presented us with the opportunity to take a deeper look at issues such as our attitudes to racism, highlighted by the Black Lives Matter campaign. Whilst we pride ourselves on being a culturally rich and diverse school, we recognise that we must continually do more to ensure QEH is an ever more inclusive and compassionate community for all.

With this in mind, QEH is working in partnership with Flair Impact, an organisation that is committed to promoting racial inclusivity and awareness. On Wednesday 20 January, all staff and pupils will be invited to complete an anonymous survey on racial issues. Flair, in turn, will interpret the results and provide data-driven recommendations for our school community. As Mr Heathcote discusses in the video below, this will ensure we continue to educate our students effectively and build a school community which fully represents the local population.

QEH pupils enjoyed an unforgettable cricket tour in Cape Town, competing fiercely, exploring iconic sights, and spotting wildlife at Aquila.

Last Friday, Year 6 boys travelled out onto the Mendip Hills to carry out the next stage in their QE Award programme. Our boys were joined by pupils from Oasis Academy New Oak Primary School for a day of navigation skills. Over the last term, we have been building links with New Oak and it was great to see pupils from both schools enjoying the fantastic weather in such an amazing location.

How to Create the Ideal Environment for Effective Revision at Home

Our son is engaged and cheerful, getting on with the tasks which are diverse, interesting and meaningful for him.  Itโ€™s a big enough workload to keep him busy but not to overwhelm.
Thank you so much for all you are doing.
