Rt Hon James Heappey MP returns to QEH

We were delighted to welcome Charlie Walker back to QEH this week. Charlie is an explorer, writer and public speaker who has done some amazing expeditions over his 12 year career to date.

We were delighted to welcome back Old Elizabethan (1992-1999), Minster of State (Minister for the Armed Forces and Veterans), and Conservative MP for the Wells constituency, James Heappey today.

During a busy visit, James enjoyed a tour the school with a Sixth Form pupil, caught up with some of his former teachers, met with Mr Heathcote, found his name on the board in the School Room and finished by speaking to a packed audience made up of students from the Geopolitics Club.

The students eagerly asked questions on topics ranging from climate change to the war in Ukraine and the impact of the UKs involvement in providing weapons and ammunition.

A big thank you to Mr Heappey for revisiting QEH and meeting with our pupils and having insightful and interesting political conversations and debates with our pupils.

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

Since joining the school, we have been constantly amazed by the support and kindness given by the teachers, staff and other pupils and, above all, by the injection of fun that infiltrates throughout whether they're playing sport, completing a science project and participating in a school play.  No doubt there will be challenges ahead but we're confident the school will provide the support and guidance that has our sons' best interests at heart.
