During the second half of term our rugby programme has been fortunate to have hugely benefitted from the input of a number of Bristol Bears players and coaches.

They have visited and worked with teams from our 1st XV down to our U12’s and have helped to develop our player’s individual skills and team structure.

I am incredibly grateful to the coaches and players from Bristol Bears that have visited us over the course of the term. The coaching they have delivered has been outstanding. The students have gained a huge amount from a technical and tactical point of view. Additionally, their visits provided real inspiration for our students and gave them a real boost going into the latter stages of the rugby term.

Furthermore, our coaches and rugby programme have learnt a huge amount from their visits. One of my objectives when I took on the role of Head of Rugby was to ensure that we took learnings from the elite end of the game to ensure that we stay up-to-date and innovative in what we do. These visits have helped significantly in that area.

Overall, what I have been most impressed by throughout the duration of the visits is how humble, genuine, and caring the Bristol Bears players and coaches have been. They are extremely busy people with demanding schedules, yet they have readily regularly volunteered to come in and work with our students. AJ McGinty even came to watch Year 7 at Failand on a Saturday after working with them on the Monday before! We at QEH are incredibly grateful for their help and support and wish them all the best for this season and beyond.”

Jordan Cox, QEH Head of Rugby

It’s fantastic to be able to get in to QEH and bring in some of the current Bears players in to help coach the different age groups. The kids and staff are great to work with. The club’s vision is to inspire the community through Rugby success and for me seeing the Year 7s engage with Callum, Harry, AJ, Jake and Rich on the training pitch is what that is all about. Coaching and having fun!

The Bears players love helping the younger generation and are always keen to come in whenever time allows. I hope this can be a regular fixture!

The first day of school is a fairly big deal. Many of us will remember it clearly for years to come, often well into our adulthood, even when memories of other events of a similar time are patchy or missing altogether.

As well as being Head of Religion and Philosophy, Zak leads our digital vision. He was instrumental in developing our excellent online learning offering during lockdown, much to the relief of our parents, and is now leading the roll out of our school device programme.

Year 13 Pre-University and Enrichment Programme launched

You run a remarkable school with an ethic that is truly unique. It shines through in each and every boy. There’s something in the way the teachers know every boy’s talent and in the way the boys support each other (while also embracing real competition!) that’s just remarkable.
