At Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital, we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing an inclusive and enriching sports program for all our pupils. Our ethos, ‘Sports for All,’ is more than just a slogan; it is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. This approach ensures that every student, regardless of skill level or experience, has the opportunity to engage in sports they enjoy, while also providing pathways for those who aspire to compete at the highest levels.

Our competitive sports teams at QEH have garnered a reputation for excellence, consistently achieving impressive results across various disciplines. Although, as England have shown us in the recent UEFA European Football Championship, we recognise that true sporting success is not solely measured by victories and accolades, but often the journey, development and passion that the sport is played with. It is reflected in the participation, enjoyment, and personal growth of every pupil. At QEH, we strive to create an environment where sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness are accessible to all, and every child can represent the school.

To embody this ethos, we offer a wide array of sports activities designed to cater to diverse interests and abilities. From rugby and football to golf and cricket to hockey and netball, our programs are structured to support both the novice seeking enjoyment and the seasoned athlete aiming for excellence. This balanced approach ensures that every pupil can find their niche and develop a lifelong passion for sports.

In line with our ‘Sports for All’ philosophy, we are excited to announce our upcoming Sports Open Evening at QEH, specifically designed for boys who will be entering Year 6 in September 2024, for Year 7 entry in 2025. This event presents a unique opportunity for prospective pupils to immerse themselves in the QEH sports experience. Participants will have the chance to receive expert coaching and development in two sports of their choice from our QEH coaching staff. The sports available for selection include rugby, football, tennis, and cricket.

The event is not only an opportunity for the boys to develop their skills but also a chance for them to experience firsthand the vibrant sports culture at QEH. During the event, parents will have the opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art Failand sports campus, which boasts some of the finest facilities in the region.

The evening will also provide a chance to learn more about our 11+ Sport Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to recognise and nurture sporting talent, providing additional support to those who demonstrate exceptional ability and commitment.

At QEH, we believe that sports play a vital role in the holistic development of our students. Through our ‘Sports for All’ approach, we aim to develop not just skilled sportspeople, but well-rounded individuals who carry the values of teamwork, perseverance, and fair play into all areas of their lives.

Introducing Golf to QEH Junior School

The QEH community gathered at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate Charter Day, honouring the 1590 Royal Charter and the values that continue to shape the school. The service featured historic readings, powerful music, and reflections on inclusion, legacy, and unity across generations.
