Mission, Vision and Values

Founded in 1590 to educate the ‘poor and orphaned boys’ of Bristol, Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital has always been defined by its superb academic provision and holistic approach. More than four centuries later, we are still committed to offering our pupils an outstanding education.

Our Junior and Senior Schools teach boys between Years 3 and 11, while our Sixth Form is co-educational.

Our Mission:

To educate and inspire our community to take on the challenges of the modern world guided by our motto ‘whilst we have time, let us do good’.

Our Vision:

To inspire every pupil to achieve their potential, discover their passions, and develop a keen sense of purpose. We aspire to be accessible to more young people in Bristol and are committed to being a diverse and inclusive community where every individual is happy, valued, and challenged.

We are committed to inspiring the children and young people at QEH to achieve more than they imagined possible – both in and out of the classroom. Many of them attain exceptional academic results but we perceive this as only part of their broader learning and development.

QEH aspires to be a diverse, inclusive, and creative community. We are deeply committed to ensuring that we are accessible to more young people in Bristol. Our strategy, vision, and values provide the foundations for creating an inspirational learning environment.

Our four school values define QEH and guide everything we do. Each value reflects our commitment to nurturing confident and compassionate individuals who can thrive in an ever-changing world.

Curious

We inspire curiosity by encouraging lifelong learning that is creative, thoughtful, and ambitious. Curiosity not only develops our minds but also enriches our interactions and experiences, strengthening our relationships with others.

Kind

We emphasise the importance of being kind to others, as well as ourselves. With a focus on emotional intelligence, we value empathy, courtesy, and integrity. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has a positive impact.

Positive

Positivity inspires and uplifts others, fuelling motivation and creativity. Life’s challenges often also present opportunities to build resilience and to focus on potential solutions. We encourage this positive outlook on life, knowing that optimism and perseverance support personal growth.

Collaborative

We believe in the power of working collaboratively, bringing together diverse skills, knowledge, and perspectives. Partnerships foster trust, mutual respect, and understanding. We understand the importance of working alongside others to benefit wider communities.

We are immensely grateful for your teaching, support and guidance. My daughter’s had a terrific time at QEH. Results day made us very proud of course; and the warmth and mutual respect of staff and students filled the room. The environment at QEH has helped my daughter grow, be challenged, and really learn about herself and the world. Thank you again, and may the school continue to thrive.
