Success at The National Intermediate Maths Challenge for QEH

Our pupils have excelled in this year’s national Intermediate Maths Challenge.

QEH pupils have once again showcased their exceptional mathematical talents in this year’s prestigious Intermediate Maths Challenge, achieving remarkable results that reflect their dedication and problem-solving skills.

Aimed primarily at gifted mathematicians in Years 10 and 11, the competition also attracts ambitious younger pupils keen to put their skills to the test. With over 100,000 pupils participating nationwide, earning a Gold certificate is a significant achievement—reserved for only the top eight percent of entrants. Beyond this, the highest-performing pupils progress to the exclusive follow-up rounds, including the challenging ‘Kangaroo’ events (limited to around 8,000 pupils) and the esteemed Mathematical Olympiads, where just 1,500 of the most exceptional mathematicians qualify.

This year, we are delighted to celebrate an outstanding accomplishment: 25 of our pupils earned Gold certificates, a substantial increase from last year’s total of sixteen. Their commitment, perseverance, and analytical excellence have truly set them apart, reinforcing our school’s reputation for mathematical success.

Our mathematics department is incredibly proud of every pupil who participated, recognising their dedication and enthusiasm for the subject.

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

We were honoured to welcome back our 1590 Society members for an evening celebrating their exceptional support. Their generosity is helping to fund transformational bursaries, providing life-changing educational opportunities to students who may not have otherwise had access to a QEH education.

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.

With our two sons being at this school over the past 13 years, we could not be happier with the amazing teachers, teaching and all the extra activities outside of the curriculum. Both boys have come away with outstanding results and aside from that as perfectly rounded, confident and well-mannered young men. We leave today so thanks to the school for everything, we shall miss these days.
