Careers in Languages

As well as being Head of Religion and Philosophy, Zak leads our digital vision. He was instrumental in developing our excellent online learning offering during lockdown, much to the relief of our parents, and is now leading the roll out of our school device programme.

Languages students were very lucky to have Ulrike Zitzlsperger and Fiona Cox, German and French professors from Exeter University visit QEH earlier this month

QEH pupils from years 9 up to 13 heard about a wide range of topics, including the key skills that are developed when studying languages and the possibilities for language learning at university.

The professors also dispelled some myths, for example that the studying of languages leads to far more than teaching and interpreting; in fact 85% of their language graduates go into other fields of work, ranging from journalism to engineering.

The talks even prompted some discussions in lessons that followed, whereby students expressed their surprise at the many benefits studying a language can have for their future career prospects.

At QEH Junior School, learning goes beyond the classroom with a wide range of clubs in sports, arts, STEM, and more. With expert coaching and sessions throughout the day, every pupil can discover new passions and develop key skills.

The QEH community gathered at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate Charter Day, honouring the 1590 Royal Charter and the values that continue to shape the school. The service featured historic readings, powerful music, and reflections on inclusion, legacy, and unity across generations.

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.
