On Monday evening, our senior debating team of Sixth Formers David E, Jensen R and Alex D competed in the English Speaking Union Mace debating regional finals.

The ESU Mace competition is the largest schools’ debating competition in the country with typically over 300 schools participating. The team had already progressed through two previous rounds and were competing against five other schools from the southwest. Our team proposed the motion This House would nationalise the energy supply system.

Not only did they win their debate but they won the entire round! This means they will go on to compete in the national finals; an amazing achievement for the students. Congratulations!

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.
