Eco Week!

Ollie is a QEH ‘lifer’, as he joined QEH Juniors in Year 3, eleven years ago.  It’s been great to watch his development through the years, both on and off the pitch.

Eco Week!

Ollie is a QEH ‘lifer’, as he joined QEH Juniors in Year 3, eleven years ago.  It’s been great to watch his development through the years, both on and off the pitch.

Our pupils took part in various enrichment activities, with a focus on the environment and our ecological impact, for this years Eco Week!

Year 7 pupils enjoyed a visit to Slimbridge

Despite the weather, pupils enjoyed a visit to explore the importance of one of our largest local wetlands at Slimbrigde. All the recent flooding and incessant rain has provided excellent habitats for our wading birds this year at least, as they found out!

Our Year 9 Community Litter Pickers

All of our Year 9 pupils were out surveying litter (as well as picking it up!) in the local community this week, as part of their commitment to Eco Week. In total they brought back 27kg of waste and recycling, increasing the previous years’ totals of 17kg and 25kg. This annual survey and wider litter pick is part of our commitment to the Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, so many thanks to all Year 9 pupils and all staff involved!

Jenga-Jigsaw creations

Some lovely Jenga tower masterpieces were made by our Year 8 students during enrichment this week. They were tasked with creating a water or river scene on their wooden towers and hessian storage bags, after some informative video clips to set the scene. Junior and Senior School students will be able to use the jenga towers, with some being given to New Oak Academy for their use.

What a fantastic week; it’s great to see such an important cause embedded in the education of QEH pupils.

Dr N Woodfield, Sustainability Co-ordinator

At QEH Junior School, learning goes beyond the classroom with a wide range of clubs in sports, arts, STEM, and more. With expert coaching and sessions throughout the day, every pupil can discover new passions and develop key skills.

Introducing Golf to QEH Junior School

The QEH community gathered at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate Charter Day, honouring the 1590 Royal Charter and the values that continue to shape the school. The service featured historic readings, powerful music, and reflections on inclusion, legacy, and unity across generations.

Charter Day Celebrations

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.

The excellent extra-curricular programme remains a particular strength of the school, adding an extra dimension to the learning experience of the pupils.
