QEH Celebrates Another Year of Excellent GCSE Grades

Congratulations to all our pupils on their excellent GCSE results!

Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital (QEH) is delighted to announce another set of exceptional GCSE results, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our pupils and staff.

A significant number of pupils achieved the highest grades. 20% of grades awarded were grade 9 and 41% of grades were grade 8 or grade 9. An impressive 12% of pupils secured straight 8s or 9s across all their subjects.

QEH’s performance significantly surpasses the national average for boys, the percentage of 7-9 grades awarded to boys in the UK fell to 19% nationally, while QEH’s boys demonstrated exceptional achievement in this area, with 61% of grades awarded at 7-9.

While academic results are undoubtedly important, we are equally proud of QEH’s ‘value added’ measure, which once again reflects incredibly positively on the school. This metric demonstrates our commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment where pupils can reach their full potential.

Head Rupert Heathcote commented: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements this year. Their hard work and commitment, combined with the excellent support of our teaching staff, has resulted in another set of outstanding GCSE results. These results are a testament to the quality of education we provide at QEH and will set our pupils up for success in their future studies.”

QEH’s GCSE results reflect the school’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education that equips pupils with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in all areas of life. We look forward to celebrating our pupils’ achievements as they embark on the next chapter of their educational journey in September, when they commence their A-level studies.

The QEH community gathered at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate Charter Day, honouring the 1590 Royal Charter and the values that continue to shape the school. The service featured historic readings, powerful music, and reflections on inclusion, legacy, and unity across generations.

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.

This is a really welcoming school.  All the teachers make me feel good about myself and the older pupils are really nice as well.
