On the last Sunday of November, when the first wintery blasts arrived, thirty three Year 10 pupils and four members of staff headed to Burrington Combe to begin Ten Tors training.

After eight weeks of classroom training, the boys were ready to stretch their legs and test their stamina on the hills. With temperatures forecasted at 0 degrees Celsius, the conditions were perfect! The route took us onto Beacon Batch and then down into Cheddar via Black Down. We then climbed back out of Cheddar on the opposite side of the gorge and over the top to return to Burrington. It was a decent ten mile walk and all the boys seemed to enjoy themselves.

Next stop is Pen Y Fan on Sunday 9 January for Year 10 before training ramps up with the prospective 45 milers joining us when we head to Exmoor at the end of January.

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

The Lizzies 2025

We were honoured to welcome back our 1590 Society members for an evening celebrating their exceptional support. Their generosity is helping to fund transformational bursaries, providing life-changing educational opportunities to students who may not have otherwise had access to a QEH education.

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.

This is a really welcoming school.  All the teachers make me feel good about myself and the older pupils are really nice as well.
