As well as being Head of Religion and Philosophy, Zak leads our digital vision. He was instrumental in developing our excellent online learning offering during lockdown, much to the relief of our parents, and is now leading the roll out of our school device programme.
The Netball First Team arrived at the ‘Sisters N Sport‘ National Bowl Netball Tournament at Loughborough University, ready for two highly competitive games amongst the final four contenders.
After their hard fought qualification rounds and a successful season, the girls were excited for the challenge ahead. The day commenced with a fast paced semi final against Malvern College. A convincing win of 27 – 9 meant the girls qualified for the final of the Bowl!
Following a short break, and a passionate team talk from our QEH coaches, it was time to face their finalists – The Abbey School, from Reading. With the eyes of spectators drawn to Court 2, the noise from the ‘barmy army’ (travelling parents), rose above the crowds in support for the QEH girls. Another fierce game of lightning quick netball, with captain and player of the tournament Emma B shining through. The team were a well oiled machine at this point, commanding the court, ending the game triumphantly with 27 – 16 as the score!
Mr Albon, QEH Director of Sport, expressed his joy: “I am so proud of them. A huge thank you to Mrs Lawrence, Mr Joslin and Kat Oldfield, our netball coach, for coaching and looking after the players at the tournament. Finally to the travelling parents for their support – the Barmy Army!”
A superb achievement for the girls this week, and some additional silverware for the QEH Netball trophy cabinet!
