Pupils return to school

As well as being Head of Religion and Philosophy, Zak leads our digital vision. He was instrumental in developing our excellent online learning offering during lockdown, much to the relief of our parents, and is now leading the roll out of our school device programme.

Staff at QEH were delighted today to welcome all students back through the iconic blue doors for the first time in over 150 days.

While things may look slightly different at the school, with a new one-way system and hand sanitising points throughout the site, there has been much at QEH today that is familiar and reassuring for all.

As well as welcoming our returning students, we also welcomed our new Year 7 pupils, who posed for the traditional first day photo on the school steps, alongside their Head of Year, Miss Lydia Mantle, and their form tutors. Our new Year 13 prefect team were delighted to finally be able to truly spring into action, helping greet the pupils and providing a warm QEH welcome, albeit from a safe social distance!

The co-educational Sixth Form also welcomed over thirty new students to Year 12 and the Sixth Form Team will be helping them to settle in during their first few weeks.

Extensive planning has taken place over the summer holiday to ensure that students and staff can return to school safely, and that QEH can continue to deliver the first class education and pastoral care for which the school is so well known.

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

QEH’s first ever Yardstock Festival — a brand-new celebration of live music right in the heart of school.

Live theatre is here to stay at QEH, as pupils from Years 3 and 4 put on an incredible production of Jack and the Beanstalk last week in our theatre.

We are immensely grateful for your teaching, support and guidance. My daughter’s had a terrific time at QEH. Results day made us very proud of course; and the warmth and mutual respect of staff and students filled the room. The environment at QEH has helped my daughter grow, be challenged, and really learn about herself and the world. Thank you again, and may the school continue to thrive.
