Year 5 look for treasure!

We were delighted to welcome Charlie Walker back to QEH this week. Charlie is an explorer, writer and public speaker who has done some amazing expeditions over his 12 year career to date.

Last Friday Year 5 spent the day in Belmont Woods as part of their QE Award programme. They were joined with Year 5 pupils from Oasis Academy New Oak Primary School making a total of 70 pupils enjoying the experience.

Once split into mixed groups, pupils had to use a map and their navigation skills to locate various ‘treasure’ boxes hidden around the wood. Not only were their team work skills put to the test but, as they identified before the activity, other key values such as resilience, perseverance, cooperation and communication were also very much needed to successfully complete the course.

It was lovely to see all the pupils mixing so well and working together and thoroughly enjoying the day.

Many thanks to the staff from New Oak as well as Mrs England, Mrs Beaumont and Jacob Harding for their help in making it such a success.

Onto the next QE Award expedition………The Mendips!

QEH’s annual Lizzies Awards celebrated pupil creativity with an inspiring showcase of short films based on the themes ‘Three Wishes’ and ‘Myths’.

You run a remarkable school with an ethic that is truly unique. It shines through in each and every boy. There’s something in the way the teachers know every boy’s talent and in the way the boys support each other (while also embracing real competition!) that’s just remarkable.
